  • Love the owner’s energy, he shows us what the passion is ;) fresh ingredient, uni sushi is great, hotate sushi is brilliant. Small sushi bar, run by local uncle and auntie, only 2 in restaurant service us. So authentic.

  • So delicious considering the price! A Hakodate must!

  • Absolutely incredible. I’ve had so much sushi in Japan yet this one rank the absolute best for quality. We got the omakase set for 1800 yen which is incredibly cheap for what you get. I usually notice fishy smells of tastes in sushi, especially shrimp and uni, yet this place didn’t have the slightest hint of imperfection. Everything was perfect. The staff was wonderful and tourist friendly. Food was delicious. If you come all the way to Hokkaido, this is a necessary stop.

  • 4.7 - I had the 8pc Omakase sushi and the price (1,980 yen after tax) was unbeatable in term of cost and value. It was impressive to hear the owner has been a sushi chef for about 60 years and I can feel he is proud of his achievement and experience. Definitely, a reserved booking is recommended. By the way, my highlights were Akami, Abalone?! and Tobiko

  • My wife and I visited on a Saturday night. I parked the car right outside as there was plenty of street parking. We were told the restaurant is cash only, but that was fine since we just have enough cash to two 2 sushi sets. The owner, and I believe his wife and the other sushi chef were very hospitable to us even we didn’t speak any Japanese. We sort of communicated over the google translate app. I ordered the 9 piece nigiri set and it was around 1800 yen plus tax. ($12 USD). The nigiris was very fresh and tasty. The sushi rice was delicious and perfectly complimented the fish. It seems chef really cares about his work and takes pride in the quality of the sushi. We really enjoyed this authentic sushi experience our last night in Hakodate.

  • I visited this place because I really wanted to try sushi while in Hakodate. I arrived around 12 PM and luckily the shop was open. There were plenty of seats available, and the elderly owner welcomed me warmly. It truly felt like watching a skilled artisan at work. Since it was my first time visiting a traditional sushi spot like this in Japan, I was excited to see what the experience would be like. The chef wiped down the counter in front of me and placed each sushi piece directly there instead of using a plate, which I found really fascinating. I ordered the most expensive omakase set, priced at 1,800 yen, and enjoyed each piece as it was served. The chef worked incredibly fast, so I never had to wait between bites, which made the experience even better. The wasabi was a bit strong for me, and my nose definitely felt it—but when I mentioned it, the chef kindly suggested having it with green tea, which actually helped Thank you Master!

  • This sushi restaurant’s run by a sushi chef with lots of experience and his wife. They both are very nice and friendly. The sushi chef is old, but he has a lot of energy. Sushi here was nice. The fish was good and fresh. They both cannot speak English, but we could communicate during the meal just fine. We really enjoyed our experience here.

  • A mom and pop shop with value that cannot be beaten. We had the special sushi set which came with 9 pieces of onigiri, Omakase style. The set only set us back 1800 yen, which I think is unheard of given the quality of the fish. I’d gladly play double and still be satisfied. It was so good we had to order a second set. A must go if you’re in the area.
